WCAG 2.1 AA vs AAA
Also known as: WCAG AA · WCAG AAA · conformance levels
WCAG defines three conformance levels — A (basic), AA (regulatory default), and AAA (advanced). Israeli law anchors on AA; accessibility firms often target AAA on their own sites.
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) organize requirements into three conformance levels. Level A is the minimum. Level AA is the practical target for most public services and the level anchored in most regulatory regimes worldwide, including Israeli Standard 5568 and EU EN 301 549.
Level AAA adds requirements that aren't achievable across all content types (e.g. sign-language interpretation for pre-recorded audio, extended visual contrast targets). Accessibility consulting firms often hold their own sites to AAA as a signal of expertise.
