Israeli Standard 5568
Also known as: IS 5568 · SI 5568 · Israeli web accessibility standard
The Israeli national standard for web content accessibility, adopting WCAG at Level AA and mandated for all public-facing Israeli websites under the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law.
Israeli Standard 5568 (ת״י 5568) is Israel's national web accessibility standard, published by the Standards Institution of Israel. It adopts the international WCAG guidelines from W3C and is applied in practice at Level AA — the level anchored in Israeli regulation for service accessibility.
The standard requires code-level accessibility: semantic HTML, keyboard operability, screen-reader compatibility, sufficient color contrast, meaningful alt text. External "accessibility widget" overlays do not satisfy the standard because they don't fix the underlying code — a point confirmed by both the Israeli Equality Commission and multiple court rulings.
