Israeli Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law

Also known as: Equal Rights Law · Israeli disability law · חוק שוויון זכויות

Israel's 1998 primary legislation on disability rights and accessibility. Under it, secondary regulations require built-environment accessibility, service accessibility, and website accessibility.

The Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law of 1998 is Israel's foundational disability-rights statute. It defines the right of people with disabilities to equal opportunity, and mandates accessibility of public places, services, and employment.

Secondary regulations enacted under the law cover built-environment accessibility (חוק המבנים), service accessibility (חוק השירות), and website accessibility (which anchors on Israeli Standard 5568). Enforcement is by the Equality Commission for Persons with Disabilities in the Ministry of Justice.
